The Schools Design Challenge

The Friends enjoy a fruitful relationship with Doncaster council and Doncaster Civic Trust which in recent years has expressed itself in a collaboration to host the Doncaster Schools Design Challenge. Starting in 2017 as part of the James Payne tercentenary celebrations, the Mansion House has been the venue for this annual event, bringing together teams of children from local primary schools to compete in a design challenge to create new and innovative architecture and urban design.

The Civic Trust film of the 2018 event gives a flavour of this fun and vibrant initiative and shows the Mansion House at its best as a venue that serves the whole community and upholds its centuries-old tradition as a place for grand events.
